Well, it is absolutely John Mayer, I guess.
It’s ridiculous to admit that the very first reason I started to listen to John Mayer is because that Tangerine. I listened to John Mayer before I knew Tangerine, but I didn’t really listen him. I mean, I just listened to 2-3 songs of him. And I still remember my aunt abandoned me to watch Your Body Is Wonderland mv back then, because she said I was still such a child to see it.
But years later, when I started stalking Tangerine and found out that John Mayer was his biggest influence, I listened to John Mayer every single day. No need much time for me to fall in love with his beautiful songs.
I simplu just feel peaceful everytime I listen to him, or watch him live. I remember my first favorite song of John Mayer was Stop This Train. I love the guitar part in the beginning, it’s beautiful. I always listen to that song everytime I am on the train. I can feel the pain, fear, anxiety, dream, hope, dream, sadness, that Mayer wanted to tell in the song.
Somehow, John Mayer taught me a lot through his lyrics, his quotes, even his tweets. He said there’s nothing such as the real world just a lie you got to rise above. He said people who have the hardest time are the people who are fighting the future. He said, “Anybody who criticizes you is a wimp. So be you. And be you loud, and be you strong, and be you to the maximum.”
Lepas dari segala kelakuannya yang tidak enak untuk ditiru, he is indeed a good musician. He is talented, hot, makes good music. And I still hope I could watch him in a concert… someday…
